Summer 2010 was the last one in a great history of the Christian Camp "Friendship" leaded by Clifford Shane Duke, who had donated his full heart in this work. The Christian Camp was organized by a family from Texas, USA, Mr. Lee Roy and Willie Gendke. Lord brought them to Lugansk, Ukraine back in 1994 and showed them a way they could make a difference in lives of many Ukrainians through numerous ministries including the camp. For many years, they did God’s job by serving in the camp. Shane Duke started his work in 2007 and since then more than 1200 children and youth were experiencing the God's Love during two or one week camps all year round. Kids from the orphanages, poor families and the kids of the coal miners could hear and study the Word of God for FREE. This was an amazing ministry, which planted LOTS of seeds. And all of us, Ukrainians, are VERY THANKFUL to all those Americans, who sponsored the camps, sponsored Shane's ministry in Ukraine and in the US and to all those people who came over here to spent their time with our children. We will never forget it!
The work, which was done at the camp will never die. But is it a reason to stop doing it? Should we leave all those for whom this camp was the only chance to get refreshed during the year? Is it needed to quit sharing God's Word for these many kids and adults (workers and visitors) every year? These camps raised a generation, but should we stop raising other generations?
I'm the representative of that generation, which was raised in camps and I'm ready to commit my life to the mission work in my area: Lugansk, Ukraine. I have few projects on mind, which should help children and youth and adults to know the Christ and to see a different life. Please visit Camp Friendship to get more details on reviving the camp ministry and please visit Our Projects page to get more details on all our orphanage and children ministries.
Also, we are ready to discuss any other project you might have in your plans. We are ready to help with great pleasure.
Best regards,
Ira & Anton Marchenko.
